My translation uses "humble" instead of "meek." It seems like a decidedly un-humble thing for Moses to write about himself! We can agree to disagree about how big of a problem Moses's anger was... I think we're agreed in seeing that God's severe discipline reflects his desire for a different model of authority. That's a tough situation you're working through right now.
