We’re going to hell in a handbasket again. Or that’s the general conclusion of a new study on reading, released today by the National Endowment for the Arts. “We’ve got a public culture which is almost entirely commercial and novelty-driven,” said NEA chairman Dana Gioia. “I think it’s letting the nation down.” Shocking, isn’t it?
